Hi, I’m the person behind SeoulScout — a Seoul local, travel content creator, and the writer behind a Naver blog (Korea’s biggest blogging platform, read over 15 million times) — and for years I’ve been showing friends, and friends of friends, around the city whenever they visit from abroad.
I started this site because I kept fielding the same questions over text message: Do I need a visa? Should I get a SIM card or an eSIM? Is Seongsu-dong worth the trip? What’s the easiest way to get from the airport into the city? I figured it’d be more useful to write it all down properly — with the same directness I’d give a friend — than to retype it every time.
SeoulScout focuses on two things: practical, no-nonsense travel logistics — transport, connectivity, visas, money, and the small stuff that trips people up on a first visit — and what’s actually worth your time right now, from neighborhoods to pop-ups to spots that are trending with locals and visitors alike. That second part gets updated as things change, because in Seoul, they change fast.
Every guide here is based on what I’ve actually seen, used, or checked recently — not repackaged from a decade-old travel guide, and not guesswork from someone who’s never set foot in Korea. If something’s outdated, I’d rather take it down than leave bad advice up.
